Safe in Soriano nel Chimo

We made it safely to Rome yesterday. Then we picked up our rental car, a fiat panda which is a little bigger than a smartcar, and headed to our condo for the eek. Between the bad condo directions and bad gps programing, we took a 50 k detour. We finally arrived, found the hotel and a place to put the car. We shopped for some groceries, had dinner in the restaruant and crashed. Peggy was up early and Anne later after a good nights sleep. Since we'd had about 3hs with onley short naps, we did sleep well. We had breakfast, then tried the hotel internet. the power went out as we we're loading photos to send of our spectacular view. Since today is the irst day for a bunch of yanks and brits on holiday here, there we're some electrical issues. So noe we've been to the welcome meeting, had a short nap and lunch and are due for the walking tour in 15 minutes. Free wifi, satelite tv and a decent kitchen in each room. this is our base for tuscany. This are is called tusci. Just south of Tuscany. We'll have dinner here at the hotel and tomorrow plan to visit some of the tuscan hill towns near here. Whwn I have more time I'll describe the driving.

enroute in Zurich

We are enroute, in Zurich waiting for our flight to Rome. The Swiss Air flight from Chicago was just over 8 hours and included 2 meals. Not much sleep, but we each had our own screens to watch movies. So far so good. Our flight to Rome is listed as 15 minutes late. Surprising for Swiss Air.

We're tired, but doing fine.

Preparing to set out on another great trip

Peggy and I are preparing to leave for Italy and Croatia on Friday. Our days are busy with last minute shopping, seeing people, finishing projects and checking things off our lists. I'll post the short version of our intinerary below. Hopefully this blog will allow us to post some photos and stories as we travel. We are excited. As we speak Peggy is on the bike trainer working on the earworm Italian tape. I'm going to work on it while I crochet later.
