Back in Soriano

We arrived back in Soriano yesterday, retracing our steps from Rome via metro, train and bus. We had a bath each, then wine, then dressed (not fancy because we didn't bring fancy clothes) for the dinner at the opera. Staff and friends performed a little operetta of opera arias and excerpts written together during our 4 course dinner. Lots of vino and laughter. I should say the food at the resort is only so-so, but the company has been great. We met a couple from Vashon, Lin and Beth, and lots of folks from the US and England. Everyone comes for a week, starting on Saturday and there are lots of opportunities for us to socialize. Different than our usual timeshare trips.

Yesterday in Roma we toured the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St Peters. It was hot. and humid. We decided after the tour (4 hrs) to go collect our bag and get back to the cooler hills. St Peters is as always impressive, the Sistine Chapel is glorious and reminds you of God's power, and the Vatican Museum really deserves a couple of days. We decided if we ever come back to Rome it will not be in the summer.

Today we head north. We plan to spend much of the day in Sienna, then will stay in Volterra for two nights. Then Florence for two nights.
